Leidos is working to help agencies turn massive volumes of data into actionable insights to accelerate mission outcomes, according to Rob Linger, vice president of the company’s information advantage practice.
Linger, a former Marine and tech leader with experience across both industry and government, said his “bias for action” drives his approach to artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics.
“The biggest part is understanding what your data is, which parts of your data are actually valuable to the outcomes you’re trying to achieve, and how you change and transform that data from just data into actionable insights that can help drive your business or your mission forward,” Linger told Executive Mosaic in a recent video interview.

Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 Intel Summit will explore how industry is collaborating with the U.S. intelligence community to safeguard, better protect and maximize the use cases of data through AI best practices and cybersecurity strategies like zero trust. Data Silos and Misinformation in Federal Agencies
Data silos remain the most significant obstacle, Linger explained, as agencies and organizations have long collected mission-critical information but often face structural and cultural challenges to sharing it.
Misinformation, exacerbated by the spread of large language models, is another pressing concern. “LLMs are very good at confidently lying to you,” Linger warned. “If users are not careful about vetting the information… that can cause a downstream effect of misinformation getting into places you don’t want it.”
Cybersecurity and Data Integrity for Mission Success
Protecting data and ensuring integrity throughout the decision-making chain is essential. “You have to assume going in that any system that’s connected is compromised,” Linger said. “Foundationally solid cybersecurity practices” are the only way to maintain uninterrupted decision environments.
