Riverside Research has appointed Stacey Dixon to its board of trustees, adding a former principal deputy director of national intelligence to the nonprofit research organization’s governing body.
Dixon is a five-time Wash100 Award winner. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. David Deptula joins the board with her, Riverside Research said Wednesday.
What Background Does Stacey Dixon Bring?
Dixon served as the sixth Senate-confirmed principal deputy director of national intelligence. She was also the eighth deputy director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the fourth director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, having previously served as IARPA’s deputy director.
She began her career as a CIA engineer supporting the National Reconnaissance Office and later worked as a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Dixon is a distinguished professor of the practice at Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford and a master’s and doctorate in the same field from Georgia Tech.
Who Is David Deptula?
Deptula retired from the Air Force in 2010 after more than 34 years of service and was the service’s first chief of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, with responsibility for ISR and remotely piloted aircraft.
He was the principal attack planner for the Desert Storm coalition air campaign in 1991 and led the Combined Air and Space Operations Center in the Middle East in 2001. He served twice as a combined and joint task force commander and as the joint force air component commander for the 2005 South Asia tsunami relief effort.
Deptula is dean of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
