James Kavanaugh
James Kavanaugh, formerly senior vice president for transformation and operations at IBM (NYSE: IBM), has been named chief financial officer of the company, Reuters reported Thursday.
Kavanaughs appointment took effect Thursday and he will succeed Martin Schroeter, who will replace the retiring Bruno Di Leo as SVP for global markets, IBM said in a Tuesday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Kavanaugh moved to IBM in 1996 and since then has held senior leadership positions such as controller, VP of finance and operations for the firms sales and distribution division and VP of finance and planning for the EMEA sector.
Prior to IBM, he worked at AT&T (NYSE: T) as CFO for the companys Americas global services business.
Kavanaugh and Schroeter will directly report to CEO Ginni Rometty.
Martin Schroeter
Schroeter will oversee IBMs sales operations in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in his new role.
The more than 25-year company veteran assumed the CFO role in 2014 after time as general manager of IBMs global financing.
He previously served as the companys treasurer and VP of global technology services for the Asia Pacific.
