James Geurts, acquisition executive of the U.S. Navy and 2020 Wash100 Award recipient, has instructed the service branch to split the functions of its program executive officer for enterprise information systems into two new offices, Inside Defense reported Wednesday.
He wrote in a memo, obtained by Inside Defense, that current PEO EIS responsibilities will transition to a digital and enterprise services office and a manpower, logistics and business solutions office.
Geurts appointed Ruth Youngs Lew as "PEO Digital" and named Les Hubbard as "PEO MLB," according to the report.
As the PEO EIS, Youngs Lew oversees an acquisition portfolio covering defense business, hosting, networking and software platforms intended to support information technology operations across the Navy and Marine Corps.
The reorganization effort is scheduled to occur through August.
