Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, and three other Republican lawmakers asked President Donald Trump through a correspondence to proceed with the award of the Department of Defense™s potential 10-year, $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud contract, Reuters reported Saturday.
œWe believe that it is essential for our national security to move forward as quickly as possible with the award and implementation of this contract, according to the letter sent to the president Thursday.
The four lawmakers noted that the House committee has kept an eye on the JEDI cloud contract from the beginning and the courts have upheld the Pentagon™s œhandling of the competition.
Thornberry wrote the letter with Reps. Michael Turner (R-Ohio), Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Robert Wittman (R-Va.). DoD is poised to award the JEDI contract to Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) or Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) in August.
