Federal Chief Information Security Officer Grant Schneider will step down from his position by the end of this month to join Venable as senior director of cybersecurity services, Federal News Network reported Tuesday.
Schneider told the publication he will focus on efforts to secure cloud computing systems, identities and supply chains when he moves to the Washington, D.C.-based law firm.
He is leaving the government after a nearly 27-year career that includes his current positions as U.S. CISO in the Office of Management and Budget and as co-chair of the Federal CISO Council.
His previous roles included senior director of cybersecurity policy at the National Security Council and senior adviser to the Office of Personnel Management director.
He initially joined OMB in 2014 as federal cybersecurity adviser after 21 years at the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he served as chief information officer for seven years.
