The Department of Defense plans to spend approximately $10.28B over four years to procure the B-21 Raider stealth bomber from Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), Bloomberg Government reported Monday.
The Air Force plans to request $193M in funds to kick off the bomber procurement in fiscal year 2022 and increase it to $2.3B in FY 2023, $3.4B in FY 2024 and $4.3B in FY 2025, according to the service’s new budget projections obtained by the publication.
The military branch plans to purchase a minimum of 100 B-21s and expects the aircraft to be operational by mid-2020s and add a capability to carry nuclear weapons thereafter.
