Mark Kleinman writes BAE’s board of directors could announce their selection of Woodburn to succeed CEO Ian King before or in conjunction with the Feb. 23 release of the company’s full-year financial results.
Woodburn, a two-decade veteran of the oil and gas industry, has been considered as King’s possible successor since the former joined the company last year.
In September, Woodburn assumed leadership of BAE’s defense operations and cybersecurity businesses in the U.K. and its Applied Intelligence subsidiary in addition to his duties as COO.
He previously led oilfield services company Expro as CEO for five years after a 15-year career at Schlumberger.
