Army officials briefed industry on its potential $4.6B OMFV procurement effort at a virtual event held Wednesday.
The military service issued a draft RFP in July and considered ideas from interested vendors when planning for the design portion of the five-phase competition.
According to the report, the branch is looking to select five industry teams to develop digital prototypes and award up to three detailed design and prototyping contracts that will include low-rate initial production options.
The report added the Army expects to conduct OMFV testing efforts between the government's 2026 and 2027 fiscal years and move the program into the full-rate production phase in the second quarter of FY2030.
The branch plans to appoint a consortium comprised of government, industry and academic representatives early next year to support an open architecture requirement for the vehicle.
