The Defense Logistics Agency has awarded Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) a potential $6B contract modification to provide spare parts as well as engineering and repair services for the Patriot surface-to-air missile system.
The modification, which has a six-year base period and one four-year extension option, increases the original contract’s ceiling value to $8B and extends its performance period by one year, the Department of Defense said Monday.
As part of the award, Raytheon will provide depot-level and consumable Patriot missile components and perform support services for the missile system as well as related weaponry.
In a notice posted Friday on the beta SAM website, DLA said it intends to sole-source a task-order modification to Raytheon for the replacement and maintenance of Patriot assemblies and subassemblies.
DLA noted that the contractor will be responsible for inventory management, depot-level support, procurement, equipment modification and obsolescence management under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award.
The agency will obligate fiscal 2020 through 2021 U.S. Army working capital funds as well as other procurement funds for the modification.
Contract work will take place in Massachusetts through Sept. 27, 2021.
