Raytheon Secures $619M Contract Option for Navy SPY-6 Ship Radar Production Services

Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) will continue to manufacture AN/SPY-6(V) radar systems for the U.S. Navy under a $619 million contract option.

The award will enable the service branch to install the air and missile defense radar technology on initial Arleigh Burke-class Flight IIA destroyer ships, the company said Wednesday.

SPY-6 is designed to help sailors locate missile and aircraft threats to the branch’s fleet of surface vessels.

“Integration into the U.S. fleet is well underway with SPY-6 operating on the Navy’s first, new Flight III destroyer,” said Kim Ernzen, president of the naval power division at Raytheon Missiles & Defense.

The exercised option was the second under a potential $3.16 billion contract announced in March 2022,

USS Jack H. Lucas, the Navy’s first guided missile destroyer built with Flight III configuration, received the initial SPY-6 radar in 2021.
