Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a potential $442.3M contract to design and develop a terminal intended to support aircraft communications via the Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite constellation.
The sole-source contract includes integration, test and logistics support services for the force element terminal development program, which is meant to transition the B-52 bomber and RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft's communication operations from the Military Strategic and Tactical Relay satellite platform to the AEHF network, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The AF Life Cycle Management Center will obligate $5.8M at the time of award from the service branch's fiscal 2019 and 2020 research, development, test and evaluation 3600 funds.
Contract work will take place at company facilities located in Marlborough, Mass., and Largo, Fla., through August 2023.
