Progeny Systems has won a $54.7 million contract to develop and test the General Dynamics-developed (NYSE: GD) payload or tactical control system of the U.S. Navy™s AN/BYG-1 submarine combat control system.
The Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday Progeny will work on the system installed on new and existing Navy submarines and joint program office submarine platforms.
Progeny will perform work in Virginia and Rhode Island through February 2021.
The AN/BYG-1 upgrade program aims to develop software and hardware tools for integration with the tactical and weapons control systems of various submarine classes.
AN/BYG-1 is installed on the Australian navy’s Collins-class submarines and U.S. Navy’s Los Angeles, Seawolf, Virginia and SSGN-class submarines.
Progeny provides software and hardware systems for various applications such as undersea and surface, aviation and maritime surveillance, enterprise applications, tactical combat, sonar and torpedo, electronics and sensor manufacturing.
