Peter Cannito: Redwire Adds Digital Engineering Capability With Oakman Aerospace Acquisition

Redwire, a space technology company backed by AE Industrial Partners, has bought spacecraft and satellite systems engineering firm Oakman Aerospace for an undisclosed sum.

Jacksonville, Florida-based Redwire said Tuesday the acquisition represents the sixth deal for the company AEI formed in June last year.

Littleton, Colorado-based Oakman engineers open architecture space systems, payload and data distribution platforms. Founded in 2012, Oakman’s offerings also include equipment production, environmental testing and computing-based simulation and orbital analysis services.

Peter Cannito, chairman and CEO of Redwire, said the purchase adds digital engineering capability he believes would expand the company’s space infrastructure services.

He added that Oakman applies a modular design and development method and a suite of proprietary commercial off-the-shelf software platforms in a push to help drive space industry transformation.

PwC and Kirkland & Ellis respectively served as Redwire’s financial and legal advisers on the transaction.

Fortis Law Partners acted as Oakman’s legal adviser, while Karsh & Co. and ReliAscent served as its financial advisers.
