Peerless Technologies has acquired Maryland-based defense contractor QED Systems. Peerless said in a LinkedIn post Monday that the acquisition is part of its effort to expand its capabilities to better support military customers.
“Together, Peerless and QED offer expanded capabilities and stronger mission support to our warfighters,” stated Andrea Kunk, president of Peerless. “Both companies have decades of highly regarded experience ranging from service and support to systems engineering, research, and development, and test and evaluation.”
QED will operate as Peerless’ wholly owned subsidiary.
How Does QED Support Military Missions?
QED provides systems engineering, program management, logistics, operations, finance and budget services in support of the Army’s command, control, communications, computers, cyber intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programs. The company also offers expertise in intelligence processing, exploitation and dissemination; position, navigation and timing; and research, development, test and evaluation analytics.
In 2024, the company won a task order worth $50.5 million to provide the Army with expert operations and technical services for five years.
QED also received a $79.4 million contract from the Navy in 2020 to develop specifications and implement an availability strategy for multiple ship classes.
“Peerless brings a corporate culture of leadership, business integrity, and customer support representing an ideal fit for QED’s next 20 years and beyond,” stated Mark Berry, co-founder and managing partner of QED. “It is comforting for me to know that the professionalism and expertise that has become the QED hallmark is deeply engrained in Peerless’ management team. Combined, QED and Peerless will continue that proud tradition.”
The transaction is Peerless’ second acquisition in 2025, following its February purchase of Statheros, a Tennessee-based defense contractor focused on electromagnetic spectrum operations and open architecture software.
