The executive oversees the profit and loss division, driving the adoption of the company’s commercial communication technologies, including 5G, satellite communications and managed network services. Markus ensures the deployment of these technologies to the defense, intelligence community and federal civilian markets. In addition, the new VP manages a team of program directors, engineers, operations personnel and business development experts tasked with the development and production of communications technology.
Markus said in another LinkedIn post shared Thursday his new role requires him to spearhead the Hughes Defense team at the 2025 Space Symposium, where the team will have the opportunity to engage with military leaders and other industry experts.

Before joining Hughes, Markus founded and served as an executive partner at Intrepidwise Strategy. He was also the corporate executive VP and sector president for intelligence at BlueHalo. The executive was also with Dovel Technologies for two years until it was acquired by Guidehouse in 2021. Markus served as program director at LGS Innovations until 2019, when it was acquired by CACI.
Markus spent 17 years at Northrop Grumman, serving in a variety of roles, including long-term positioning campaign lead and department manager. He was also a line of business founder for almost a decade.
