The defense segments of Oshkosh (NYSE: OSK) and Flyer Next have received a task assignment to develop an expeditionary ground vehicle prototype for the U.S. Army.
The industry team will provide two prototypes for use in test and evaluation of the Infantry Squad Vehicle, designed to transport as many as nine warfighters and their equipment, as part of the National Advanced Mobility Consortium’s project agreement with the service branch, Oshkosh Defense said Friday.
Los Angeles-based Flyer Defense produces off-road wheeled tactical vehicles that have a lightweight design and can be transported in rotary- or tilt-wing aircraft. The Army, which could name the winning ISV manufacturer in spring 2020, intends to buy 651 new vehicles through fiscal 2024.
