The U.S. Army has awarded Oshkosh‘s (NYSE: OSK) defense business a potential $476 million contract to manufacture medium tactical vehicles.
Oshkosh Defense will build the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles A2 variant under the a firm-fixed-price requirements contract with an ordering period of seven years, the company said Wednesday.
The Army Contracting Command received two bids for the procurement effort via the internet, according to a Defense Departmentpress release.
Oshkosh Defense proposed its FMTV A2 design in response to an Army solicitation notice that outlined payload, ride quality, mobility, engine power, diagnostic, safety and underbody protection requirements for an updated vehicle fleet.
The company noted it aims to build 16 models and associated trailers designed to accommodate payload of up to 10 tons and support combat, relief and logistics and supply operations through the latest contract.
