Oshkosh (NYSE: OSK) has received a $409 million order to produce 1, 661 family of medium tactical vehicle trucks and 31 trailers for the U.S. Army.
The order is for the seventh performance year on a previously awarded FMTV contract and the company’s defense business segment will continue deliveries of the vehicles to the service branch through July 2018, Oshkosh said Thursday.
Oshkosh’s current FMTV A1P2 portfolio comprises 17 models designed to carry payload of 2.5 to 10 tons and support combat missions, relief efforts, logistics and supply operations.
Oshkosh FMTV is equipped with technologies designed for battlefield and homeland security missions as well as features a parts commonality of more than 80 percent, which aids the maintenance, training and sustainment of Army, Army Reserves, National Guard and U.S. Air Force vehicles.
Patrick Williams, Oshkosh vice president and general manager of Army programs, said the company has supported the FMTV program since 2009 and integrated more than 1, 000 engineering modifications into the company’s medium and light-medium tactical vehicle offerings.
