Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has secured a potential five-year, $79.4 million contract from the U.S. Navy to manage ground launch drone missile targets for test and evaluation.
The company will provide GQM-163A development test, operation and maintenance services to the Naval Air Warfare Center’s Weapons Division through the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
DoD added that work includes support for GQM-163A tests under the foreign military sales program.
NAWCWD solicited proposal from Orbital ATK for the contract via a non-competitive solicitation process and will obligate $300,000 in fiscal 2018 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
The company is scheduled to complete contract work in February 2023.
GQM-163A is designed to function as a decoy target for supersonic sea skimming simulations and other fleet training activities.
