The U.S. Postal Service has selected NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) to provide an artificial intelligence-based technology platform to increase the speed and accuracy of package data processing at the agency.
NVIDIA said Tuesday USPS will adopt company-built servers with deep learning software and V100 Tensor Core graphics processing units to train AI algorithms intended for deployment to EGX computing machines at nearly 200 USPS facilities.
œAI is transforming multiple industries, enabling processes, accuracy and efficiency not possible before, said Anthony Robbins, vice president of NVIDIA’s federal sector business and a 2019 Wash100 recipient.
A team of USPS and NVIDIA engineers has worked over the past several months to create AI models with the use of NGC containers, TensorRT software and DeepOps tools.
The new system is scheduled to reach full operational capability in the spring.
