Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a potential 13-year, $1.39B contract to produce and sustain next-generation navigation systems for the U.S. Air Force and foreign military sales customers.
The company will provide production and sustainment services for the Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation System Modernization program under the follow-on contract, the Department of Defense said Friday.
USAF initially awarded Northrop a $49M contract in May 2017 to design the EGI-M hardware and software architecture.
The system is designed to support compatibility between older aircraft and modern GPS technology such as M-Code receivers.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center will obligate $17,645 in FMS funds at the time of award and use aircraft procurement, operations and maintenance, research and development and FMS funding types for future orders.
