The companies will further develop their interceptor concepts for MDA’s regional hypersonic missile defense program during the materiel solutions analysis phase at their respective facilities in Arizona through the end of July 2023, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The OTA modifications are worth approximately $48.2 million for Northrop and $43.2 million for Raytheon’s missiles and defense business.
Raytheon and Northrop received the OTAs in November 2021 and the modifications bring the total value of their agreements to $135.1 million and $126.3 million, respectively.
In November, both vendors secured OTA modifications to continue development work on their GPI concepts.
GPI is meant to provide the U.S. and its allies with an additional defense layer against regional hypersonic missile threats by intercepting hypersonic weapons during the glide phase.
