Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a $61.7 million contract modification to support battlefield airborne communication node technology for the U.S. Air Force.
The modification exercises an option on a previously awarded contract for BACN payload operations and support services, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
BACN is designed to integrate with Northrop-built Global Hawk unmanned surveillance aircraft and transmit battlefield-related information to warfighters.
Northrop will perform work under the contract in San Diego, California, and at various locations outside the U.S. through Jan. 23, 2017.
The Air Force will use fiscal 2016 overseas contingency operation and maintenance funds for the procurement.
