Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a potential $1B contract modification that will definitize all three phases of the U.S. Air Force’s F-16 radar modernization program.
The company will develop and manufacture as many as 372 active electronically scanned array radars, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
DoD noted the definitized modification has a cumulative face value of $291.1M and the service branch will obligate $679,659 at the time of award.
The Air Force chose Northrop in July 2017 to equip the F-16 aircraft with the company’s APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar system. SABR is designed to function in hostile electronic environments and help pilots view large surface imagery intended to support target identification.
Work under the latest award will occur through May 2027 in Linthicum Heights, Md.
