Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a $262.3M contract modification for engineering and manufacturing development work on 15 active electronically scanned array radars designed for the U.S. Air Force's F-16 aircraft fleet.
The company will also supply 90 AESA production units and provide spares and support equipment under the modification, the Department of Defense said Friday.
DoD noted the contract's total potential value is $553.4M and that work will take place in Linthicum Heights, Md., through December 2022.
According to Northrop, it derived the company's AESA technology from radar systems used on fifth-generation fighter platforms F-22 and F-35.
