Northrop, Blue Origin, Nanoracks Book $416M in NASA Space Station Design Contracts

Northrop Grumman, Blue Origin and Nanoracks have received contracts worth $415.6 million combined from NASA to design space-based facilities for low Earth orbit.

The Space Act Agreements come as the agency is looking to retire the International Space Station and transition to newer commercially developed facilities that could be accessible to both public and private sector customers, NASA said Friday.

Contract funds break down to $125.6 million for Northrop, $130 million for Blue Origin and $160 million for Nanoracks.

“With commercial companies now providing transportation to low-Earth orbit in place, we are partnering with U.S. companies to develop the space destinations where people can visit, live and work, enabling NASA to continue forging a path in space for the benefit of humanity while fostering commercial activity in space,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.
