Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) received a $92 million contract modification to integrate the Department of the Navy’s Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures system onto multiple aircraft platforms operated by four U.S. military branches.
The award covers the procurement of 78 DoN LAIRCM processors and 814 other weapon replaceable assemblies, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Under the modification, Northrop will engineer the system for aircraft at the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Army and the Air Force Special Operations Command.
The DoN LAIRCM system is designed to automatically detect, track and jam surface-to-air infrared missile threats to rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
Northrop is a sponsor of the Potomac Officers Club’s in-person forum, themed “Securing Tomorrow’s Future: The Urgency of Persistent Modernization.” The event is scheduled to take place Feb. 23 at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia. Register here .
