Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a potential $164 million contract modification to provide one E-2D Advanced Hawkeye configured aircraft to Japan under the foreign military sales program.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday Northrop’s military aircraft systems business will perform work through March 2018 at various locations across the continental U.S.
The Navy obligated the full amount of the modification at the time of award from its foreign military sales funds.
Northrop designed its E-2D to help the service branch perform tactical command-and-control functions and gain battlespace awareness with the aircraft’s battle management, theater air-and-missile defense and multiple sensor technologies.
Japan ordered four Hawkeye aircraft units and related components and support services from the U.S. government under a potential $1.7 billion FMS deal the State Department approved in June last year.
