Northrop Grumman has received an other transaction agreement from the U.S. Army worth approximately $481.3 million to provide software updates for the military branch’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System, or IBCS.
The Department of Defense said Thursday the company will perform work in Alabama, Florida, Maryland and Virginia through Dec. 30, 2029.
Army Contracting Command received 21 bids for the OTA through an internet solicitation.
The service branch obligated $347.6 million in fiscal 2024 foreign military sales funds at the time of award.
In September 2023, the State Department approved Poland’s potential $4 billion FMS request for IBCS and related equipment to improve its missile defense capability and interoperability with the U.S. and other allies.
In June, Northrop marked the delivery of the first full set of ICBS to the U.S. Army by handing over the first production IBCS Engagement Operations Center and Integrated Fire Control Network Relay to the service branch.
What Is IBCS?
IBCS is a U.S. Army program of record designed to connect sensors and effectors, providing commanders and warfighters with increased situational awareness needed to make real-time decisions in the battlespace.
The platform provides command and control capability for the Integrated Air and Missile Defense system, or IAMD, and is an enabler for multidomain operations.
