North Wind Portage has won a potential 10-year, $614 million contract to perform site cleanup and closure work for the Department of Energy’s environmental remediation project in Moab, Utah.
The Moab Remedial Action contract includes task orders to excavate and dispose of residual radioactive waste, construct a disposal cell and maintain facilities and railroad structures at the Moab and Crescent Junction site, DOE said Thursday.
NWP serves as the remedial action contractor for the 480-acre Moab site, which includes a former uranium-ore processing facility. The project will involve the relocation of an estimated 16 million-ton pile of uranium mill tailings and associate waste near the Colorado River to a disposal cell near the Crescent Junction site.
The department received seven bids for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract via a small business set-aside competition and chose the winning contractor based on the “best value” sourcing method.
