Amy Gilliland, senior vice president and deputy for operations at General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) information technology business, has been named president of the IT business in a move that takes effect Sept. 1.
Gilliland will succeed Daniel Johnson, who will continue to serve as executive VP of the Falls Church, Virginia-based company’s information systems and technology group, General Dynamics said Wednesday.

“Amy is an effective leader who understands the complex business environment in which we operate, said Johnson, who has been head of the group that oversees General Dynamics IT and mission systems business units since 2015.
Gilliland previously served as SVP of human resources and administration at corporate headquarters before she assumed the dual roles at General Dynamics Information Technology in April.
The 12-year General Dynamics veteran joined the company in 2005 and since then held other senior leadership roles such as chief of staff for the CEO as well as staff VP of strategic planning and investor relations.
Gilliland also served as a surface warfare and public affairs officer in the U.S. Navy.
