Navy Taps Seven Companies for Nearly $1B Pacific Region Construction Contract

Seven companies have been awarded spots on a potential five-year, $990M U.S. Navy contract to build facilities, infrastructure and ranges at various locations throughout Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command’s Pacific area of operations, DVIDSHub reported Wednesday.

The Japanese government will finance projects in Guam, where the majority of work under the multiple-award construction services procurement vehicle will take place, as part of a U.S.-Japan agreement.

Hensel Phelps-Shimizu JV

The partnership between Hensel Phelps and Japanese construction firm Shimizu won a $53.9M initial task order to establish an administration building at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz., with an expected completion date of May 2023.

Col. Bradley Magrath, commanding officer of MCBCB, said the J-011 base administration project will serve as the camp’s future command headquarters.

The U.S. and Japan agreed to transfer multiple functions of the III Marine Expeditionary Force from the latter county to Guam as part of the Defense Policy Review Initiative.
