The U.S. Navy has released a draft solicitation for a contracting opportunity for the development of a medium unmanned underwater vehicle to help the branch locate naval mines and collect oceanographic data, Inside Defense reported Friday.
A presolicitation notice published March 30 says Naval Sea Systems Command is seeking multiple contractors to design and build an MUUV platform with a modular, open architecture design to perform mine countermeasures and autonomous oceanographic sensing operations.
The branch hosted an industry day in early December within the Washington, D.C., metro area.
