Navy Awards Lockheed Potential $68M IDIQ to Update MH-60R Radar Systems

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has secured a $67.6 million contract to engineer, manufacture and deliver automatic radar periscope detection and discrimination multi-mode radar kits to the U.S. Navy.

The Defense Department said Thursday Lockheed’s mission systems and training business unit will produce up to 103 AN/APS-153(V)1 radar kits for integration into the service branch’s fleet of MH-60R multimission helicopters.

The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $39.8 million in fiscal 2015 and 2016 Navy aircraft procurement funds for work to be performed in New York and Florida through September 2020.

The Telephonics-developed AN/APS‘153(V) radar system comprises integrated identification friend or foe, automatic radar periscope detection discrimination and long-range/high-resolution imaging tools designed to increase operators’ littoral and maritime domain awareness.

MH-60Rs are designed to help the Navy perform anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, surveillance, communications relay, combat search and rescue, naval gunfire and logistics operations.
