BAE Systems‘ ship repair business in San Diego has won a pair of contracts worth $185M combined from the U.S. Navy to modernize two Arleigh Burke-class destroyer ships.
The first contract has a cumulative value of $88.8M and covers extended dry-docking selected restricted availability work on USS Decatur, while the second contract has a $96.2M ceiling and involves EDSRA support for USS Stethem, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Naval Sea Systems Command received one offer for both projects through FedBizOpps and initially obligated a total of $170.7M on both awards.
According to DoD, NAVSEA solicited bids based on long-term availability requirements covering West Coast operations beyond the ships™ homeport.
The department expects contractor services to be complete by October 2020.
