The U.S. Navy has awarded $158 million in contract modifications to subsidiaries of BAE Systems, General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) to perform maintenance work on amphibious ships homeported in San Diego.
BAEs San Diego Ship Repair unit,HIIs Continental Maritime of San Diego subsidiary and General Dynamics NASSCO business will help the Navy maintain, repair or modernize LPD, LSD, LHA and LHD vessels, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The modifications exercise a second option period under previously awarded multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts and will run through March 2019.
All three contractors received contract funds worth $120.5 million combined in February of last year to support the military branch’s San Diego-homeported surface combatant ships.
