The U.S. Navy has selected an additional 608 companies to compete for a range of functional support task orders worth up to $3.96 billion per year under the military branch’s SeaPort Enhanced contract vehicle that now includes 5, 106 total businesses as participants.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday 682 offers were submitted to the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia for this round of awards and orders will run through a three-year period of performance.
DoD noted the scope of work encompasses 22 service areas such as research and development, engineering, configuration management, quality assurance,  information technology and ship inactivation and disposal and program support.
This latest set of awards are in addition to the 4, 498 previously awarded spots on the SeaPort-e contract, including 914 the department unveiled in November 2013 and another 464 that were announced April last year.
