A Navistar subsidiary has received a $440 million contract from the U.S. Army to reset and modernize MaxxPro mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles for the United Arab Emirates through the Excess Defense Articles program.
Navistar’s defense business will perform upgrade work on 1,085 MRAPs and deliver specified sets, kits, packages and technical publications to UAE under the foreign military sales contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
MaxxPro is designed with a V-shaped hull that works to deflect improvised explosive device blasts away from the vehicle and offers protection against direct fires and rocket-propelled grenades.
The Army obligated $46.4 million in fiscal 2010 “other funds” at the time of award.
Contract work will occur in West Point, Mississippi through March 31, 2019.
