Eleven companies have been named in the latest batch of NASA’s Tipping Point partners that will develop technologies that could support lunar surface and space exploration missions.
The agency said Tuesday it expects to contribute a total of $150 million to fund the projects and each award recipient will shoulder at least 10 to 25 percent of the project’s total cost.
NASA’s space technology mission directorate will issue milestone payments to each awardee under Space Act agreements that could run for up to four years.
Five of the tech projects will focus on the development of habitats, transportation, power and other infrastructure that could help humans explore the moon.
The six other projects will advance the development of tech capabilities for use in space exploration and Earth observation missions.
