Modern Technology Solutions Inc. has received a $153 million task order under the U.S. Air Force’s Modernization and Engineering Support III, or MES III, effort to help modernize weapons systems operated by the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
What Work Will MTSI Perform Under the MES III Task Order?
MTSI said Wednesday it received the order from the General Services Administration’s Assisted Acquisition Services, which operates under a client-based structure tailored for the Air Force, Navy, and Space Force and manages enterprise-wide procurement for advanced weaponry, digital engineering and modernization efforts.
MTSI will plan and execute tests, analyze results, prepare reports, manage test logistics and conduct studies tied to equipment installation and integration across Air Reserve Component, or ARC, platforms.

The future of military research and technology development will be discussed at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2027 Defense R&D Summit on Feb. 4, at Hilton-McLean, Virginia. Register now to hear government and industry leaders discuss the priorities shaping defense innovation.
The company will also handle program management, technology insertion, integration engineering, engineering liaison support and acquisition of specialized systems under test. Supported areas include aircraft; Joint Terminal Attack Controller and special warfare capabilities; command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems; domestic operations; cybersecurity; logistics software; and test process training.
What Did MTSI Officials Say About the Award?
Kevin Robinson, MTSI’s president and CEO, said the order extends the company’s decades-long work with the Air Force.
“This award demonstrates our team’s commitment to applying proven technical expertise, innovation, and mission focus to every challenge,” Robinson added.
Vance Drenkhahn, executive vice president of MTSI’s defense services division, said the company works with the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center, or AATC, to keep Guard and Reserve aircraft and mission systems “ready for the fight today and the fight of the future.”
What Other Contracts Has MTSI Won Recently?
The award follows MTSI’s September selection for a position on the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Contract Operations for Missile Evaluation and Testing, or COMET, vehicle to support DIA’s Missile & Space Intelligence Center.
In December 2025, the company landed a potential $416 million Defense Information Systems Agency contract, including a $37 million task order, for technology integration support to Air Force Global Strike Command.
MTSI also booked a potential $625 million Air National Guard task order in January 2025 for ARCWERX research, test, evaluation, modernization and innovation support.
