Mike Canning
Mike Canning, a principal with Deloitte Consulting, has been named head of the companys government and public services practice.
He succeeds Dan Helfrich, who assumed this month the role of chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting, and will oversee a 15K-person team delivering consulting, financial and risk advisory services to federal and state government agencies, higher education and nonprofit organizations.
Helfrich said Canning will help advance the exchange of platforms and lessons between private and public sectors to create more opportunities and address clients challenges.
“To build on our success, a major focus of mine will be on human-centered design and helping our government clients get closer to the citizen, said Canning, who will be based in Arlington, Va.
Canning sits on the board of Deloitte US and serves as chair of the companys global committee. He previously served as the global clients leader for the firms global clients and industries practice. He joined the company in 1988 as a research analyst in the Detroit office.
