Communications solutions provider MetTel announced Wednesday that it has been designated as an authorized Starlink reseller.
Starlink Service
With over 4 million active users around the world, Starlink provides a space-based low-latency network capability that facilitates connectivity speeds of up to 100 Mbps for terrestrial users. Authorized resellers are allowed to offer Starlink products and services along with other value-added offerings wherever Starlink is licensed and certified.
Delivering SD-WAN Over Starlink
MetTel said that being an authorized reseller allows it to deliver its fully managed software-defined wide area network, or SD-WAN, broadband service over Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite constellation to commercial as well as government customers. Delivering SD-WAN broadband connectivity over Starlink’s LEO constellation makes it possible to overcome the performance limitations inherent to conventional satellite communication configurations.
Use Cases for Businesses and Government
SD-WAN and Starlink are among the fastest-growing IT communications network services, and according to MetTel Chief Technology Officer Ed Fox, his organization is seeing many potential applications of the technologies in business as well as government.
“MetTel will also leverage technologies such as private 5G and spectrum like Citizens Broadband Radio Service to leverage Starlink to serve fixed networks and mobile devices,” Fox added.
