MDA Plans $4.1B Award to Lockheed for C2BMC Missile Defense System Follow-On Work

The Missile Defense Agency intends to award a potential 10-year, $4.1 billion follow-on contract to Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to extend work on the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications System.

According to a SAM.gov notice for C2BMC Next, Lockheed’s rotary mission systems business is currently the only contractor with in-depth technical expertise required to sustain the missile defense system’s development, integration, operation, testing, cybersecurity and maintenance efforts.

The planned follow-on award will also provide for increment 9 risk reduction as well as hardware and software data to ensure that the C2BMC System continues to deliver space domain awareness support to warfighters and U.S. allies.

MDA sets a five-year ordering period under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and includes another five-year option for extension.

The agency also encourages companies looking for subcontracting work to reach out to the incumbent contractor.
