Jim McAleese, founder of McAleese & Associates and a 2019 Wash100 awardee, reported on top U.S. Army officials speaking about the importance of budget stability for the military service during the annual AUSA meeting and exposition.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville urged Congress to support financial and policy initiatives meant to help the service branch increase readiness and modernize platforms.
They are concerned about the possible impacts of funding uncertainty on Army programs after a stopgap government funding bill expires on Nov. 21.
We have to get a budget deal … It is on the table … We have prototypes landing all over those six portfolios … We have got to get a [2020] budget deal through,” McCarthy was quoted as saying in the McAleese report.
The Army secretary told his audience at the AUSA event’s congressional breakfast that the branch is two or three years away from irreversible momentum.
