Rajiv Gupta, senior vice president of the cloud security business unit at McAfee, said implementing a cloud-centric approach to security challenges could help agencies keep pace with the increasing adoption of cloud platforms and enable them to focus on mission outcomes.
Gupta wrote that cloud-native application protection and secure access service edge models could help agencies accelerate and securely adopt cloud platforms.
CNAP and SASE models “can function as an example of true north – an ideal for government agencies to aspire to as they expand their use of cloud technology,” he added.
Gupta called on agencies to implement a “platform that was built natively in the cloud” and can provide complete visibility into user behavior, context and data, subject sensitive information to persistent protection and address security threats.
“Having such a platform is critical for agencies to meet their portion of the security responsibilities they share with cloud providers,” he added.
Gupta noted that agencies should look at security as an enabler of employee productivity and recognize the role of developers in achieving a more competitive, efficient and agile organization.
