Westminster, Colorado-based Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) has acquired Wovenware, an artificial intelligence and software development company, for an undisclosed sum as part of a push to expand its AI, 3D data production, software engineering and machine learning capabilities.
Wovenware Co-Founders Christian Gonzalez and Carlos Melendez will continue to manage the daily operations of the company as it runs as a wholly owned subsidiary and one of the AI/ML and software development centers of excellence of Maxar, the space technology and geospatial intelligence provider said Thursday.
Established in Puerto Rico in 2003, Wovenware has approximately 150 employees with expertise in AI, software development, geospatial production and service design.
As a result of the transaction, Maxar will continue to invest in Wovenware’s growth initiatives in Puerto Rico and offer additional resources to expand its workforce.
Maxar and Wovenware have worked together on customer delivery and software engineering efforts since 2017, including Precision3D applications and global imagery basemaps.
Dan Jablonsky, president and CEO of Maxar and a 2022 Wash100 awardee, said Wovenware’s team of software engineers complements the company’s product development and delivery professionals and both entities will build on their collaboration to expand their client base.
