Max Peterson, vice president of international sales for worldwide public sector at Amazon Web Services, has been appointed as VP of worldwide public sector unit at AWS, The Economic Times reported Saturday.
He will succeed Teresa Carlson, a six-time Wash100 Award recipient who will join Splunk (Nasdaq: SPLK) as president and chief growth officer.
Peterson said in a tweet that he is honored to lead the AWS public sector that Carlson started in 2010 and is excited to back the company’s efforts in supporting governments, health care, education and nonprofit organizations.
Peterson is a senior executive with over three decades of public sector information technology experience. He previously served as vice president and general manager for civilian and intelligence agencies at Dell prior to its merger with EMC in 2016.
He has held leadership roles at CDW-G, Commerce One, GTSI, Semaphore and IBM (NYSE: IBM).
