Matthew Klein Named Managing Director of Kroll's D.C. Investigations & Disputes Practice

Matthew Klein, former chief security officer and assistant commissioner for the professional responsibility office at the Customs and Border Protection, has joined Kroll as managing director of the consulting firm’s investigations and disputes practice in Washington, D.C.

Kroll said Tuesday Klein will also serve as an “integral” member of the company’s newly established law enforcement and public safety consulting practice.

“With deep experience in matters that span anti-corruption, supply chain risk management, port and border control, law enforcement, and crisis management, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and insight that can aid our clients across the globe to address the security and risk challenges that they are increasingly facing on a daily basis, ” said Kroll CEO David Fontaine.

Klein previously managed an office with approximately 700 employees stationed across the U.S. during his tenure at CBP.

He also led the establishment of the agency’s threat mitigation and analysis division and first critical incident response branch.

Prior to CBP, he spent 26 years at the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department where he held various roles of increasing responsibility from patrol officer to commander of internal affairs.
