Makenzie Lystrup Named Ball Aerospace VP, GM for Civil Space Business

Makenzie Lystrup, senior director for civil space advanced systems and business development at Ball Aerospace, has been appointed vice president and general manager of the company’s civil space business.

She succeeds Jim Oschmann, who will retire from Ball Aerospace on Aug. 10 after a 14-year career there, the company said Monday.

“My thanks to Jim for his leadership and many contributions to Ball, where he has been an advocate of the science community,” said Rob Strain, president of Ball Aerospace.

Strain added that Oschmann helped the company maintain professional relationships with federal civilian clients that include NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Lystrup previously served as director of space sciences and strategic operations at Ball’s office in Washington, D.C., and worked as a Congressional Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the House of Representatives.

She currently serves on the boards or committees of the American Astronomical Society, AURA, CO-LABS, SPIE and other organizations.

She has also supported science, technology, engineering and mathematics education programs at AmeriCorps as a volunteer.
